About Baky

After a few weeks of training to do technical mastery exercises, (in line with JMG’s philosophy) to tame the ball, and repeated conservation sessions; during a talk, Baky asks the coach “Coach, when are we really going to start playing, to do the real training? »
The amused JMG Coach said to him: “But since you entered, you’ve only been playing and practicing! ».
When the first friendly matches started a few months later after they had perfected their ball skills, the boy immediately understood the meaning of the coach’s words…
Everything seemed easy, as if he had already done it. The matches were in fact only the moments of restitution and easy implementation of all the tirelessly repeated scales. And the pleasure was there… Just before the historic match against Esperance in Tunis in the 1999 African Super Cup final that would reveal them to the world, the ASEC President was deeply concerned that young people would be overwhelmed by the events and that they would suffer the wrath of the demanding supporters who absolutely wanted the trophy, already won by their eternal rival in Africa Sports a little earlier.
So, as he shared his concerns with them, Baky spoke up to say that they were not afraid of anyone even if they respected the opponents, and that on a game, they felt able to beat any team! and that they were ready to make a bet in this direction.
The bet was won by young people whose average age at the time was around 18 years old…. The kid’s nerve at the time already expressed a strength of character that was later confirmed during his career.
