About Copa

Goalkeeper for the Golden Promo Johan, the first of the JMG adventure in Côte d’Ivoire, “Copa” is one of the last in the group. Arrived, like Baky Koné from Wiliamsville, a district in northern Abidjan, he was spotted during a tournament where he was a versatile field player!
Since the Academy only recruits on the basis of footwork skills. Thin, slender and determined, Copa is slimmer and taller than most of the other young people recruited so far. His skills of relaxation, flexibility and quick reactivity were obvious to the JMG coach who was certainly already starting to think that it was time for his barefoot kids to start playing for the 11-a-side games, finally to have a goalie!
He is certainly the first Ivorian goalkeeper of this modern era to visit this post around the world.
Evolving almost like a libero, participating in the ball exits by short passes of the foot from the defence, for safe restarts. These qualities, which a few years later would be a decisive factor in recruiting for this position in clubs such as Barça and Bayern, among others, he had almost lost his starting place in the national team, because TROP BON du PIED, at one time…
Ironically, never really considered indisputable in this position in the national team because of his qualities at the foot, (despite very good performances in this position), he will retire nationally by almost offering the continent trophy in 2015 to the Elephants, being the hero of the final, by shooting from the penalty spot and scoring that of victory. The final was his only match played during the CAN 2015!!!!! Fair reward for COPA……
